OUR LOVE STORY

Robbie was just a year above me in high school. We knew of each other but didn't have the same friend groups. I used to hang around Robbie's italian class instead of going to study hall, but we were more acquaintances than anything else. Fast forward about 7 years, I graduated from college and started going out with a close friend of mine to the local bars. One of our mutual friends started bringing his friend Robbie out with us. Of course we all knew each other from high school but this was when we really started to become close. One night we were all meant to go see a movie and all of our friends bailed, except Robbie. The two of us went to see Deadpool together and that is our official first date. If you ask Robbie he will joke and say it was a pity date because I had no one to go to the movies with when our friends bailed. After that movie Robbie was stuck with me. We quickly started dating and got thrown right into the craziness of both our families.

We were together for about 4.5 years when Robbie decided he wanted to take a drive to Wickham Park in Manchester CT. He had been mentioning this park for a few weeks and wanted to see all of the different themed gardens they had. We took the drive up one Saturday and started exploring. We walked through the English garden and then through the Oriental garden. There was this pretty white bridge overlooking a pond that Robbie wanted to go on. Once we were on the bridge Robbie called my name and I turned around and he was on one knee. Unbeknownst to me, his sister Heather was hiding in a bush right across the pond. When Robbie saw his sister with her camera he got nervous and almost immediately got down on one knee thinking she was ready. Heather unfortunately was not ready and almost fell into the pond as she raced to get some photos. A few happy tears and a lot of "Is this real?" from me and we were engaged! As we were walking off the bridge we heard his mom yelling "Did we miss it?", his parents were also there waiting to congratulate us. Then we spent the rest of the day enjoying the gardens with Robbie and his family. The rest is history!
